Product description
The current trend is represented by new passenger cars and commercial vehicles that are equipped with a Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF). The DMF is part of the standard equipment especially in passenger cars with a diesel engine or a very powerful petrol engine. Overall, there are currently more than 85 million vehicles equipped with this equipment in Europe.
Like the clutch, the DMF is subject to normal wear phenomena and may need to be replaced. For this reason, Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket specialists have also included the LuK DMF as a separate product in the range offered, in addition to the LuK RepSet DMF.
A non-intact DMF could cause damage due to vibration in the transmission line as the flywheel assumes a "protective function" between the engine and transmission. Replacing the DMF with a rigid flywheel, using a so-called conversion kit from other manufacturers, is not without risk. These kinds of alternatives do not conform to vehicle manufacturers' specifications and can cause gear rattling, continuous rumbling of the bodywork or even total system failure.
Professional workshops therefore use the original: Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket's LuK DMF, in order to avoid subsequent problems and not to jeopardize the warranty provided by the workshop to vehicle owners.
In addition: Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket's special DMF dual mass flywheel tool allows you to check whether the DMF is worn without disassembling it.
Benefits
Product description
When the clutch disc is worn, more pedal force is required to operate the clutch. Self Adjusting Clutches (SAC) constantly compensate for wear, thus maintaining the force to be applied to the pedal for the entire duration of the clutch.
Using a force sensor (diaphragm sensor spring), the SAC compensates for wear on the clutch disc by rotating an adjustment ring with ramps. This compensation mechanism reduces the actuation force, keeping it constant during the useful life of the clutch, and also increases the life of the clutch up to 1.5 times, maintaining excellent comfort.
The clutch disc and pressure plate are matched to each other and therefore must always be mounted together. Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket therefore offers SAC applications exclusively within the LuK RepSet kits and not as individual solutions.
To correctly install the SAC clutch, the special SAC tool from Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket is indispensable, to avoid the generation of counter forces, which would cause premature rotation of the adjustment ring on the pressure plate assembly. If the tool is not used, there is a risk of damage to the pressure plate and therefore of clutch failure.
