Vintage fold-out 1949 official highway map of Maine, printed more than 85 years ago.

  • The map opens to 31" x 22½" and has great detail on old road alignments, including U.S. Routes 1 and 2, with cartography by the State Highway Department.

  • In addition to numbered roads in the state it also identifies seven named highways as designated by the state legislature: Pine Tree Trail, Arnold Highway, Arnold Trail, Douglas Highway, Moosehead Trail, Blue Star Memorial Highway, and Aroostook Scenic Highway.

  • There are inset plans of Houlton, Rumford, Bangor-Brewer, Kittery, Portland, Lewiston-Auburn, Belfast, Brunswick, Augusta, Rockland, and Waterville-Winslow.

  • There's also a golf course directory and a list of parks and memorials.

  • The color photo on the rear cover shows the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, the only "candy striped" tower in the United States. It is situated on the easternmost point of the contiguous U.S.

  • Condition:  This map is in excellent condition, bright and clean, with no marks, rips, or tears. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.
