Author: Cyril Bennett

Publisher: T Fisher Unwin, London

Edition: First Edition, First Printing

Date Printed: 1897

Description:  Very strange novel about the beneficial effects of electrotherapy as a treatment for neurasthenia. Two volumes on one. Original cloth hardback. 240 and 228 pages. 7.5 inches by 5 inches.

In attractive condition with some light wear and bumping (see pictures). Gift inscription to the front free end paper. Toning to prelims. Binding slightly tender but holding sound and square.

Cyril Bennett also wrote a non-fiction book for sufferers from "Nerves", called "The Modern Malady". At this point in time "Nerve Problems" were commonly treated by confinement to a lunatic asylum, and this novel passionately argues in favour of modern Victorian electrical treatment. A rare and important book.
