Mundorf ECap100-100 RAW 100 µF100 V bipolar electrolytic capacitor 270500-0009

The bipolar electrolytic capacitors of the ECap AC Audio Coupling & Signal Cap RAW series have foils whose surface has been roughened and thus enlarged by a special etching process. Since the capacitance of a capacitor is proportional to its surface area, this results in the smallest and most economical Mundorf audio capacitors.
Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are used wherever film capacitors are not an option for space and/or cost reasons. Polarized electrolytic capacitors, which have the most compact design and are therefore used with very large capacitances (e.g. in the power supply of amplifiers), cannot transmit audio signals because these are AC signals. Bipolar electrolytic capacitors, such as the ECap AC series, have a second aluminum foil, which makes them AC-proof and therefore suitable for music signals.
