Vintage Handmade Faux Wooden Corkscrew Wine Opener Unique Colonial Pictorial Decorative

LOOKS like Wood but I think it's a Epoxy Resin or something that's probably been molded and/or carved.

RARE!!

This has been in the family for decades, I assumed it was carved out of wood. It really looks like wood!!! But when I listed it, I saw another online, a darker shade and that listing said it was plastic or acrylic from the 1960s. I took a closer look at mine and saw that it has seams, which makes me think that it's made in pieces out of a very wood-like substance, then either molded and/or carved and attached together. The outside has 3 pretty distinct seams of the 3 different pictorial scenes. One is most noticeable and looks like it was sanded down to make it fit or less noticeable. The inside is 2 pieces attached in the middle. See photos.

I just saw another pair listed on here that said one was chipped and looked like it was made from veramic/porcelain or glass.

Mine has no chips or cracks and the seams aren't separating so I don't know what the material is like inside but I doubt it's Ceramic or glass since it's been handle a bit roughly by me, even dropped more than once. Also, it goes around the glass wine bottle which means glass on glass or porcelain on glass? Too risky. Mine has a slight scrap inside from the friction against the wine bottle. Mine also has a spot on the lip where the material is thin so it isn't a perfect circle. Also the are 3 or 4 small bubbles/holes on the top. That said this is a really neat yet perplexing totally functional wine opener. Makes a great conversation piece too since everyone can weigh in on what the heck material it is, who made it and where did it come from? Shhhh, maybe it's from the future? Ha! Would make an excellent gift.
