Het doel van de ontwikkeling is om de remprestaties te verbeteren ten opzichte van de originele remschijf. EBC gebruikt HPSR-staal met een laag koolstofgehalte met een 18% hogere wrijvingscoëfficiënt. Dit staal is veel beter bestand tegen roest dan gietstaal. Bovendien wordt het gehele oppervlak beschermd door een 3 micron dikke zinklaag, die tijdens het remmen in het gebied van het contactvlak van de remblokken afslijt. Alleen in dit gebied kan tijdens een langere levensduur gemakkelijker roest ontstaan.
De remschijven zijn geboord in Vogelschwingendesign om zo min mogelijk gaten te krijgen en tegelijkertijd de reiniging van de remschijf met regenwater en remstof te optimaliseren. Hoe minder gaten er zijn geïnstalleerd, hoe beter het remmen op nat wegdek en hoe minder slijtage.

- Daarom is er geen vervorming van de remschijf, zelfs niet bij maximale belasting.
- Zonder verglazing van het remoppervlak blijft de wrijvingscoëfficiënt constant.
