Square form hand painted continental porcelain tea caddy with stopper in striking deep blue and maroon with floral and gold gilt accents. The piece may also be a perfume bottle or cologne decanter. Likely made in France.

Illegible incised marks on the unglazed bottom. About 6.25 inches to top of lid and 2.75 inches across the base.

Displays great -- a really handsome and well-proportioned piece.

Condition: Very good + antique preowned condition. The glaze is shiny and bright, the colors vivid, the decorations well-executed. Minor overall gilt loss and some dings in the stopper base as expected for a utilitarian object this old and not visible when lid is on. There is a small, tight hairline or craze mark on the underside of the stopper, as shown in photos. Otherwise no chips, cracks, crazing, etching or other significant issues.
