This is a dynamic and visually striking Vintage Mid Century Modern Asian Filipino Abstract Oil Painting on canvas, depicting a traditional Moro village scene in Mindanao, Philippines. The small colorful Moro homes are depicted in a cubistic style, with heavy impasto, set against an orange-brown field. This painting is signed illegibly on the verso in the upper left corner. Perhaps you recognize the artist or their work? Additionally, this piece is titled in the lower right corner of the verso: "Mora(o) Houses MinDanao." Approximately 28 1/2 x 40 1/4 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 24 x 36 inches. Very good condition for age, with some light scuffing and edge wear to the original period frame. The frame is slightly askew and does not lay perfectly flat against the wall. This piece approximately dates to the 1950's - 1960's. Acquired from an old estate collection in Los Angeles, California. Early - mid 20th century Mabini Street Filipino artworks have garnered increasing interest in recent years, as their cultural and artistic significance is now more fully appreciated.
