This is a wonderful and finely detailed Vintage Old Jewish Impressionist Israel Cityscape Oil or Watercolor Painting on Artist Board, by the enigmatic Mid Century Israeli Modernist painter, L. Korin. Biographical details on this artist are non-existent, but perhaps you know more about him or his work? This painting depicts a bustling cityscape scene in a small alleyway, likely in the city of Jaffa or Old Jerusalem. Expressive, and nearly abstracted architecture of various windows and rooftops dominate the top half of this scene, while in the foreground, several figures are visible, including one who appears to be a Hasidic Rabbi, holding a large book, likely the Talmud in his left arm, and holding a cane with his right hand. Signed in Hebrew, and signed and dated in English in the lower right corner: "63, L. Korin." This small gem is approximately 8 5/8 x 15 5/8 inches (including frame.) Actual visible artwork is approximately 4 1/8 x 11 7/8 inches. Good condition for age, with moderate scuffing, scratches, and edge wear to the original period vintage frame (please see photos.) Acquired from an old collection in Los Angeles, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer. Please check out my other listings for more wonderful and unique artworks!
