This is an expressive and vivid Vintage Old Mid Century Modern Floral Abstract Oil Painting on Masonite, depicting a colorful floral abstraction, rendering in swirling, emotionally charged palette knife brush strokes. This painting displays a sense of joyousness and captures the raw underlying nature of the floral still life that it depicts. In the midst of the general abstraction, the outline of flower petals and blossoms can be seen. This piece is similar in subject and style to the work of midcentury California modernist painter, Rose Baumruker. This painting is signed: "Raines" in the lower right corner. I could not find any information on this artist, but perhaps you know more about them or their work? Additionally, an old framer's label on the verso reads: "Earl's of Brentwood...Los Angeles." Approximately 31 1/4 x 37 1/4 inches (including frame.) Actual visible artwork is approximately 23 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches. Very good condition for age, with some light scuffing and edge wear to the original period gilded frame (please see photos.)
