This is a lovely and refined Antique Old Plein Air Impressionist California Mission Oil Painting on canvas, depicting what is likely the old San Juan Capistrano mission, and a robed Benedictine monk in the foreground. This tranquil scene shows the old stone structure of the Spanish mission and is dappled with colorful pink, blue, and lavender wildflowers in a thick impasto. Signed in the lower right corner: "Annette Perry", who was a renowned early California landscape painter and educator. This piece approximately dates to the 1940's. Good condition for age, with some spots of mild paint loss, craquelure and a few shallow dimples to the canvas (please see photos.) Approximately 27 1/4 x 37 1/4 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 20 x 30 inches. Acquired from an old home in San Gabriel Valley, California. Please check out my other listings for more wonderful and unique artworks!
