This is a lovely and highly impressionistic Vintage Mid Century Modern Impressionist Still Life Oil Painting on Masonite, by early Los Angeles, California Impressionist painter, Emilio Lanzi (1884 - 1965.) This artwork depicts a lovely and ethereal still life scene, of a purple hued vase with cascading goldenrod and violet flowers. This piece is rendered in broad, palette knife brush strokes in infinitesimal shades of purple, and is truly and eye-catcher. Signed: "Emilio Lanzi" in the lower left corner. There are also several old exhibition stickers which are still affixed to the front of the painting. Additionally, an old exhibition tag on the verso reads: "LANZI Fine Arts Studios...Los Angeles, Calif... TITLE: The Blue and the Gold...*Flower Series*" Perhaps our dear painter Lanzi was getting color blind in his old age, because I clearly see shades of various purples and not blue! You be the judge. This artwork likely dates to the 1950's. Approximately 25 x 29 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 18 1/2 x 22 1/2 inches. Very good condition for age, with some light scuffing and edge wear to the original period wooden frame. Acquired in Los Angeles County, California.
