This is a lovely and Fine Antique Old California Plein Air Landscape Oil Painting on canvas, by the talented early California Impressionist painter, Paul Friedrich Weindorf (1887 - 1965.) This artwork depicts a bucolic landscape scene, with delicately painted sycamore trees, lush green grasses, and an expansive forested tree line in the distance. Signed: "C. Weindorf" in the lower right corner, and additionally signed by the artist in graphite on the top stretcher bar of the verso. On the verso of the canvas, this piece is titled: "Sycamore by the Road." Weindorf's painterly style is reminiscent of the fine French Impressionists of the late 19th century, which is presumably due to his exposure to these works when he studied art in Europe, before emigrating to the United States. This artwork likely dates to the 1930's - 1940's. Approximately 29 3/4 x 33 3/4 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 24 x 30 inches. Good condition for nearly a century of age, with light craquelure, a few speckles of paint loss, and some evidence of minor restoration in a few areas of the painted canvas (please see photos.) Priced to Sell. Acquired in Los Angeles County, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer. Please check out my other listings for more wonderful and unique artworks!
