This is an Early and Very RARE Antique 1930's Old Disney Mickey Mouse Donald Duck Tapestry Rug, comprised of loomed wool, and depicting an early version of Donald Duck (long billed,) Minnie Mouse, and Mickey Mouse, playing an accordion, in an open wooded scene. This is a rare Alexander Smith rug from the 1930's. In 1935 retailors could buy wholesale the whole set of eight different rugs for the high price during the Great Depression of $2.41. These quality rugs were made by the world's largest weavers of Axminister rugs. These were produced in Yonkers, New York in very limited quantities. This piece features a dancing, long billed and early rendering of Donald Duck, along with a cheering Minie Mouse, and a reclining Mickey Mouse playing a squeeze box accordion. In the background, a gazebo and trees can be seen. This piece, due to its delicate nature, was mounted and clipped onto an old fiberboard panel decades ago, for display and preservation purposes. Artwork is approximately 27 x 39(?) inches. Good condition for nearly a century of age, with moderate edge wear, wool loss, and small tears along the edges (please see photos carefully.) This particular 1930's historical Disney piece very rarely comes up for sale, anywhere. Acquired from an old family collection in Orange County, California.
