This fine Victorian swan Staffordshire figure is made to be used as a inkwell (though I doubt it ever was used for that purpose!).  It features a beautiful swan with gold enhanced pink shaded wings gliding on the surface of water surrounded by bocage mean to represent flowers and foliage and it has three apertures for pens.  There is a "Granny Note" on the bottom of the figure that tells us it is "Stafodshire" and that it is 'very good!".  At least we agree on that point! This piece was in our collection for many years. It is 3.5" tall x 2.75" wide x 2" deep.  I believe it dates to the 1870's.
