You are looking at an awesome "ORIGINAL 1962 Mets item"! A May 30-31,1962 Memorial Day ticket stub from the POLO GROUNDS. This Double Header game has significance of being the first time that the Brooklyn/L.A. Los Angeles Dodgers came back to New York N.Y. since 1957 at Ebbets Field. It was also the largest crowd in NEW YORK BASEBALL HISTORY! This one has the back part of the "STANDING ROOM" Rubber Stamp. I have the scorecards (not included) and will try and describe the games. Game #1 starting pitchers were Sandy Koufax vs. Jay Hook. The Dodgers won 13-6. The line-ups include: LAD: Maury Wills, Jim Gilliam, Willie Davis, Tommy Davis, Ron Fairly, Frank Howard, John Roseboro, Larry Burright, and Koufax (Complete Game). Willie Davis had a homer, so did Ron Fairly, Maury wills had 2 Home Runs including one inside the park. The Game one Met line-up was: Joe Christopher, Elio Chacon, Cliff Cook, Frank Thomas, Gil Hodges, Jim Hickman, Felix Mantilla, Sammy Taylor, and Hook. Rod Kanehl, Harry Chiti, and Richie Ashburn pinch hit and Dave Hillman, Vinegar Bend Mizell, and Bob Moorehead pitched in relief for the Mets. Gil Hodges homered for the Mets.
Game #2 pitching match-up was Johnny Podres vs. Bob L. Miller. The Dodgers swept the Mets 6-5. The LAD line-up was basically the same. Ron Fairly homered again and Larry Sherry and Tim Harkness also appeared in the game.. The Met line-up was: Basically the same as well. Charley Neal played second base, Richie Ashburn, Marv Throneberry, and Ed Bouchee, Sammy Taylor, pinch hit. Gil Hodges hit two Home runs and Jim Hickman also homered. Willie Davis hit into a "TRIPLE PLAY in the 5th Inning. 6-4-3!  #I ENJOYED DESCRIBING THIS FAMOUS DOUBLEHEADER IN ORIGINAL 1962 METS HISTORY"!
