This well played, feather light, 1963 00-18 that is a fantastic playing and sounding guitar with a ton of character. I’ve really struggled with selling it, but I need the money to cover another purchase. This is the guitar I’ve gravitated toward the most over the last 2 years. The neck is comfortable, and the action plays like butter, partly due to a fresh neck reset, new frets, and a professional setup.

As with all my guitars, I took this one to Brother's Music in Pennsylvania (close to the Martin Factory). Dave and Rich from Brother's Music both worked for many years at Martin Guitar, building and testing guitars at the Martin Factory in Bethlehem, PA. So basically, they are the best in the business when it comes to fixing and maintaining vintage Martin guitars. I had them go over the guitar to check for cracks. There is what appears to be a crack near the high E string near the pick guard (common on these vintage guitars), however, Dave and Rich said it is stable, might not be all the way through, and does not need anything. I also had them complete a fresh neck reset as the previous owner had it done but the neck joint was not tight. In addition, they found a back brace that needed gluing and I also had them replace all the frets. The action is perfect with a nice high saddle and break angle.

I believe everything on the guitar is original except for the bridge pins and the saddle. There is also a strap button installed on the heel.

I love the look of the wear on this guitar and the fact that it was well played and has mojo for days. The fact that it was played a lotalot is probably why it sounds so good and open. I get lots of compliments on the looks and sound of this guitar which makes it even more difficult to part with.

I feel this guitar is worth every penny of my asking price. Especially since you are getting a worry free guitar that needs nothing, unlike so many others you buy from Reverb and Ebay that you have to take to the luthier the day you get them home.

Interesting Fact: This guitar was made at the older Martin factory the last year they were in operation. This adds value in that they still used hide glue for everything until they switched to the new plant in 1964.

This guitar, like all my guitars, was kept in a humidity controlled room at all times. I am obsessed with maintaining proper humidity levels at all times of the year. It also comes from a non-smoking home.
