Artist Biography:

Matthew Runkle began his artistic journey as a child, struggling with a half-dull pencil on note paper. Progressing beyond pencils, he exhibited drawings and paintings in his teens, inspired by Kandinsky. A perceived failure in 2006 led to extensive self-study. Resuming in 2008, Runkle found his unique style with “Sail Bucket.” Represented at notable galleries, his work blends modern abstract aesthetics with recognizable objects, telling stories through contemplative scenes. His ambition is to deepen the narrative potential in his emotionally-inflected, aesthetically grounded art.
