One of a kind novelty letterman jacket with hand embroidered design in a nicely done chain stitch technique. Dark purple wool varsity sports jacket, with purple & yellow striped knit trim and fully lined in black nylon fabric. Metal snaps at front, reinforced lined pockets, fold over collar. Jacket was made by Nelson's School Supply locally here in Portland, OR and looks to be made circa late 1980's to recent years based on the labels and finishing. Without a doubt the custom embroidery design was done or designed by a fan of the famous American astronomer Carl Sagan, author and co-creator of the 1980's "cosmos" television series. Jacket features 'Cosmic Voyager' at back in colorful dark pink, yellow, and sparkling silver yarn with a yellow fabric appliqué planet. 'Sagan' is the name embroidered at front, all embroidered by hand. This is SUCH a cool piece, in excellent condition with no issues to note. There are a few knots and strings from the needlework showing at inside liner, not visible when wearing. It has been professionally dry cleaned and is ready to wear. For size reference it's shown on a US men's size medium mannequin and a women's size small mannequin.
