Amazing piece of sporting memorabilia of record breaking Cricket Legend Muttiah Muralitharan,to commemorate the historic occasion of Murali becoming the highest ever wicket taker in Test Match cricket. ,The Department of Posts in Sri Lanka issued a set of stamps featuring Sri Lanka's legendary wrist spinner.

This rare package consists of four composite parts as follows ;

 

  • 1. Sheet of mint Murali commemorative stamps which consists of 12 identical stamps with a value of five rupees each,and a printed example of Murali's signature. This is the first ever round stamp to be issued by Sri Lanka - See picture 5

 

  • 2. First day cover franked on 03.12.2007 at the Asgiriya International Cricket Stadium Kandy on the day that Murali took his record breaking wicket. See Picture 6

 

  • 3. Inside the FDC is an information sheet on the career of Muttiah and includes information on the issue of this stamp. This is in English and Singhalese. See picture 7

  • 4. Large gatefold Presentation folder measuring 19cm x 22cm - 7.5 x 8.5 inches  containing Murali factfile,pictures and cardboard flaps to hold in place the stamps and first day cover.During his record breaking test match at Kandy See Pictures 1,2,3 and 4
