Patrick Nagel (1945–1984) was an American artist best known for his distinctive style of illustration, which often featured glamorous and stylized portrayals of women. Born on November 25, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio, Nagel studied at Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles (which later merged with California Institute of the Arts). He began his career as a freelance artist in the early 1970s.

Nagel gained widespread recognition for his work in the 1980s, particularly through his collaboration with Playboy magazine. He created a series of iconic illustrations for the magazine's "Vargas Girl" feature, showcasing his sleek and minimalist style characterized by bold lines, vibrant colors, and a combination of Art Deco and Pop Art influences.
