EXCEPTIONAL! Spanish Tile Mosaic by San Do (1981)
Hand-painted by porcelain master!

Here’s an impressive tile mosaic by master porcelain painter San Do! This framed, 21” x 21” wall hanging features a collage of nine porcelain tiles hand-painted by Do! The exceptional Spanish scene could be a representation of the Old Country or inspiration from areas around South Florida, such as Ybor City, close to where the artist resided in Tampa.

Do emigrated from Vietnam to Florida in the 1970s and began painting porcelain for commission and subsequently for his art studio. He has been regarded as one of the top two porcelain painters alive, and some of his hand-painted plates sold for over $3,000 in the early 2000s. Many of the tiles at Columbia of Ybor City were painted by Do, as well as for the other Columbia franchises around Southwest Florida.

This piece is unique in that it is exceptionally large for Do’s pieces – perhaps the largest to go to online sale. Also, it features a traditional Spanish theme similar to his works at Columbia’s. This piece is signed by Do and dated October 1981, very early in Do’s accomplished career. The piece is framed in a wooden brushed bronze-colored frame and is ready to hang!
