Due to the different measuring and manufacturing processes of V-belt manufacturers, length specifications are different between various manufacturers.

However, these differences do not affect the functionality of the belts.

Due to different industry standards, different parameters are used to determine length specifications.

A distinction is made between external length (Le for short), internal length (Li for short) and stride length.

The pitch length describes the measurement of the length at approximately 3/4 of the belt height according to din 2215.

Furthermore, the belt tension specified by the vehicle manufacturer must be taken into account for a reliable length measurement, as this is also an important factor in the manufacturing process.

Due to these different measurement methods, there may be different V-belt sizes from different manufacturers on the same vehicle.

Particularly with Piaggio scooters, special attention must be paid to the oil pump belt after a V-belt break!

Flying parts of a broken V-belt in the engine housing may have damaged or completely destroyed the oil pump belt.

Since it is located behind the variomatic and is not immediately visible, it is always worth taking a look behind the variomatic to check the condition of the oil pump belt and replace it if necessary. A damaged or destroyed oil pump belt leads to piston seizure!
