The CWU 45 is the legitimate successor to the MA-1. It was issued in the 1970s and designed for cold climate areas. CWU is the abbreviation for Cold Weather Unit; Consequently, the relaxed fit jacket is lined with nylon to keep you warm and comfortable. Well, as cozy as it gets on a US Air Force fighter jet. USA, anyway. This jacket is yet another testament to Alpha Industries' thoughtful design and functionality. It's quite versatile: for one thing, it made Tom Cruise famous (not the other way around). Secondly, although it is a winter jacket, it is surprisingly light and retains the robustness expected from a military grade garment.
