A premium Seiboku ink cake from Kuretake's Senjuboku Series No. 53, handmade and designated as production number 38 out of a limited run of 200. Perfect for serious work of Shodo (calligraphy) and drawing sketches.

This ink cake was produced over 40 years ago. Older ink is usually considered better. Over time, the glue in ink undergoes hydrolysis, causing a reduction, and soot begins to aggregate. The ink, as a whole, becomes lighter, the stickiness of the glue decreases, resulting in a lighter brushstroke, and a rich depth of blackness emerges.
