Beautiful Gorham sterling silver slotted spoon, 8 1/2” long, had you seen it when it was found at the estate sale it WAS black. Although it looks nice and shiny, I would venture to say, if it were polished again, tarnish would still show up. It has normal use superficial scratches, noted mostly on the resting spot of the spoon’s back. Also, on the back side of the bowl there is a small oval mark I thought was a patch of tarnish. After much rubbing, I realized the oval line was slightly impressed, a manufacture’s defect is assumed. The spoon is hallmarked with the infamous Gorham logos, lion facing left, anchor and letter ‘G’, along with “Gorham Sterling”. The pattern name is also on the handle, “Melrose”, introduced in 1948. A “beefy” beautiful piece of flatware, please see photos for more description .
