Description: PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Jim Caviezel (The Thin Red Line), Michael Emerson (Lost) and Taraji P. Henson (Hustle and Flow) team up in this thought-provoking crime action drama from The Dark Knight's Jonathan Nolan and J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Productions (Fringe, Lost, Alias). Set in New York City, with all of its multifaceted elements of justice (i.e., cops, criminals, corruption), this procedural centers on an ex-CIA agent, presumed dead, who partners with a mysterious billionaire to prevent violent crimes.

Using data siphoned off the United States intelligence agencies' threat matrix deemed irrelevant to national security -- information concerning not terrorism, but violent crimes of a personal nature -- the unpredictable former agent Reese and his enigmatic partner, Finch, identify a "person of interest" and set about solving the mystery of the impending crime that person will be involved in. Tapping into the world's Big Brother-like surveillance network, the shadowy duo knows that something bad is going to happen; it's their mission to discover what that event will be ... and somehow prevent it.

Operating on a parallel track are New York detectives Carter and the corrupt Fusco, who must enforce the law while still abiding by it. Running counterpoint to Reese's unconventional yet effective methods, Carter strives not only to collar criminals, but the evasive Reese as well. Inspired by the chilling omnipresence of global surveillance and information tracking, Person of Interest delivers the familiar elements of a crime procedural in a heightened, unpredictable manner -- as Reese and Finch race to solve each crime before it occurs

AMAZON REVIEW
The initial reason to get interested in Person Of Interest? The involvement of one Jonathan Nolan, its creator and regular writer for the show. Nolan's work on The Dark Knight trilogy ensures he arrives with pedigree, but then what he's constructed here is a compelling show in its own right. Person Of Interest brings together a former CIA agent who's assumed to be dead, and an equally mysterious billionaire. Through the use of highly advanced surveillance technology, it turns out that they're able to prevent crimes. It's not an exact science, and that's ample for this impressive crime thriller to take hold.

Appreciating its concept is a little far-fetched, although there's plenty that it has to say about surveillance, Person Of Interest amps up the interest by doing lots of things right. The casting is excellent for instance, with former Lost star Michael Emerson as the billionaire, and Jim Caviezel playing the former agent. There's plenty here to put a skew on the oh-so-familiar television crime drama.

Constantly able to pluck out surprises, and with few drab episodes in this impressive opening season, Person Of Interest has much to recommend it. The disc release itself adds a few extras to the mix, too, one or two of which will do nothing to calm any paranoia within you. A strong series, and a very worthwhile boxset. --Jon Foster
