Passenger Car Interior KIT for the Athearn 72ft Stream-Lined Coach Car

The interior features 24 double seats, one 3-passenger seat, and one “Jump seat” for 52 miniature passengers.

The 52Coach-AthSL interior KIT also has  2 lavatories and a “Smoking Lounge”

This KIT consists of 2 pieces to be glued together to create the interior.

 “Super Glue” works well; please heed warning below.

The product is manufactured from beige aliphatic polyester resin and can be painted.

Paint and populate the interior before installation.

Use care when installing the interior into the car; there are no tabs to aid in locating.

Be sure that the interior is centered in the car.

The lavatories go on the vestibule end.

Plan for your wiring.

LSW100 is recommended for weight.  (Lead sheet is not included with the kit.)

For the project car, the standard steel weight was completely removed, and an 8 1/8^th piece of LSW100 was used for weight.  (You still have to mark and punch out the holes for the screws.)

The LSW100 was glued into the chassis with automotive weather stripping adhesive.

Then bond the completed interior to the previously installed LSW100.

If you chose to re-use the stock steel weight, the offset piece must be completely flattened and cut to the appropriate length.  Re-attach with automotive weather stripping adhesive.

Carefully center the interior in the car as Athearn cars have no locating pins or lugs.

L = 9 11/16^th in.

Our interiors take into account window placement of the cars, and any protrusions or obstructions inside the specific car.

Warning! Do not install the interior in the passenger car sooner than 12 hours after using “Super Glue”.  Cyanoacrylate adhesives release fumes that will attack and mar your windows and other surfaces.
