In the same Science Fiction / Horror vein as Dark Horse Comics; The Thing from Another World and/or Virus, Epic Comics presents the deadly mutated aberration known as the virus, Mutatis.    

In the future, the polar ice caps have melted, the seas have risen - and mankind has been forced to build vast “seascrapers” in order to survive. Built and run by vast corporations, these steel islands house nations of workers in claustrophobic isolation. Now the unimaginable has occurred: a wayward experiment in genetic engineering has released a killer virus known as Mutatis. And if it’s not stopped, everyone in the city will be dead within days. Among the first infected is Lyle Clane, a former cop who fell into corporate disfavor. In eighteen hours he’ll be sick, in twenty-four hours he’ll have mutated and died. But the corporation has given him a chance: if he can find and kill the other three people known to be infected, the company will try to cure him. Fail, and everyone dies - one way or another. 

Story/Spoilers: 

In Book #1, "A Killer Virus Unleashed in a Bizarre FutureWorld!", The mutant virus Mutatis is loose in the near future, and it's turning people into monstrous creatures. One infected man is offered an antidote, but the price is he must find other infected people and kill them. 

Next in Book #2, "The Deadly Terror of a Mutant Virus Run Amok!", Infected with the deadly Mutatis virus, ex-cop Lyle Crane joins forces with a fellow peace officer to stop the spread of the virus by killing three other infected people. The discovery of a fourth victim may make the murders a useless exercise and may also destroy the future-world. 

Finally in Book #3, "The Bone-Chilling Conclusion to this Year’s Hottest Sci-Fi/Horror Drama!", Infected ex-cop, Lyle Crane, has finally disposed of all the other suspected carriers of the virus Mutatis. Having saved Hydropolis from extinction, Crane expects the antidote from the man who hired him. Unfortunately, Crane discovers that there is one more carrier--the president of Hydropolis!
