Beautiful outstanding unique made in France Vintage White Beaded Clutch Purse Bag with Gold Tone Metal Chain and Pearl Style and ornate designed Closure adorned with Five Hand Painted Panels on the face.  The Metal Closure swivels over the top of the bag.  On back of closure is printed Made in France as well as noted within bag.  Each panel measures approx. 1/2" x 1/2" with varied scenes including birds, flowers and man.  The Panels are also within additional pearl style horseshow design border.  Bag measures approx. 9.25 x 6.5".   Interior material is silk or satin with two additional smaller side pockets.  Age and maker unknown could be anywhere from 1920's-60's in our opinion.  

Purse has very interesting backstory.  It was purchased from home of Joanne Woodward, the actress.  We believe from our research that she may have carried the purse to the 1958 Academy Awards where she won Best Actress.  Again, it's possible but not a definite.  A photo of her with Newman (see pic) shows the purse or one quite similar in foreground on table.  The five panels as part of the Purse are recognizable.  We obtained several vintage 1920's purses from her residence in NYC as she was definitely a lover of beaded purses.  We have MANY other Woodward and Paul Newman items listed also purchased from their former NYC residence.  The possibility of its use certainly adds to its uniqueness.
