FANTASTIC VINTAGE 835 SILVER VASE by PORTUGUESE DESIGNER LUIZ FERREIRA (1909-1994)
Outstanding and somewhat rare, possibly one of a kind work from renowned Portuguese designer/silversmith, LUIZ FERREIRA (1909-1994).
Organic, oblong form with fluted rounded corners and unique textured surface; one side inset with carved bird and two flowers on gold or gilt wire stem.
Condition is excellent. As can been seen, the silver patina develops in an interesting way due to the unique working of the silver. The piece is shown three years after cleaning and the look is spectacular either way. The vase is being offered as-is or cleaned prior to shipping (no extra charge).
The piece measures:
27.2cm(10-3/4") tall
18.2cm(7-3/16") wide
8.5cm(3-3/8") deep at the bottom (slightly narrower at the top)
Front rim incised with maker and purity marks:
Concentric letters "LF" in rectangular lozenge: Maker Mark for LUIZ FERREIRA (1909-1994)
Eagle 835 in chamfered lozenge: 835 Porto purity/town mark
Other mark unidentified - possibly goldsmith's
