This beautiful porcelain bowl, made in Japan in 1977, features a hand-painted scene titled 'Beneath The Plum Tree', which is the first in a series, Warabe No Haiku.


The artist is Shunsuke Suetomi. Known for his white space 'Sea of Whiteness.'


The intricate design showcases boys marching to glory.


The haiku poem on the front reads, "Beneath the plum branch, small soldiers March to glory. Till their mothers call. "

The artist signature and seal are also on the front.


Hand painted with pigments of iron red, light blue, blue green, and yellow or gold.
