This is for a lot of 3 maps from the Washington D.C. and Georgetown area c. 1880's. These are "Linear Maps" that are intended to show the details of a lengthy area to show specific details.
Each map is 26" x 9" and come from a book/atlas and were drawn by J. v. Glumer, a noted map artist of the period who specialized in drawing maps of the region and of different military campaigns. Printed by T. Sinclair of Philadelphia. Included are the following:
- Potomac River Region with the C&O and Washington & Alexandria Canals, W&A Railroad, etc.
- Anacostia River / Eastern Branch Region with US Naval Yard & Arsenal Grounds, Congressional Cemetery, Balt & Potomac RR, etc.
- Rock Creek Region with The Georgetown & Rockville Pike, Rosslynn, and area parks, roads and mills.
Great color with the effect of shading to provide a topographic look. These are in great, clean condition with folds as shown.
