19th-century Chinese Pipe inlaid and inscribed.The metal tank on both sides with a central motif of brass and copper inlaid stylised scaled fishes around which floral finely engraved festoons  depicting  'lucky'  peonies.The ends of the tanks are also engraved with peony and the other with an extensive calligraphic inscription.Fish are the emblem of fecundity and wealth or abundance.The pronunciation of the word for fish in Mandarin, yu,is similar to that for abundance .
Two small holes hold the utensils.  Tongs and a needle combined with a brush on top. With a string or chain the whole set designed to be  be attached to the belt of the user. The string or chain plaque is unusually heavily inscribed with calligraphy on both sides.height  approx 25 cms including stem .Stock number 1631
