The bottom of each piece bears the makers’ marks of the famous Orfèvrerie Christofle: the name “Christofle” written in block letters contained in a rectangle and the initials “C.C.” (Charles Christofle) surrounding the images of a scale surmounted by four stars. The bottom of the cream pitcher and of the sugar bowl also bear the maker’s mark consisting of the words “Metal blanc” above the initials “C.C.” surrounding the image of a bee and a star. The bottom of each piece is numbered: “2966983” for the coffee pot, “2914605” for the tea pot, “2860096” for the sugar bowl and “2859251” for the cream pitcher. Each piece is also stamped with a mark indicating that the silver content is 33 grams for the tea pot, 32 grams for the coffee pot, 19 grams for the sugar bowl and 14 grams for the cream pitcher, a higher than normal silver content for this type of service. This set is in very good condition with the exception of superficial scratches due to great age and normal use. This authentic set will add an elegant “French” touch to your dining room as well as a stylish addition to any collection.
