Biography on Mr Merrick:


Born in Philadelphia, Pa 1905 - 1985


Studied at Philadelphia College of Art (diploma) and at Cape School of Art with Henry Hensche and also under T. Oakley. Member of Philadelphia Art Alliance (life member, Philadelphia Watercolor Club, American National Theater Academy (founding member), Woodmere Art Association, SC; Philadelphia College of Art Alumni Association. (pres. 1948-52).


Exhibited at: Philadelphia Watercolor Club, 1935-45, PAFA, 1935-45, 1964 (Dawson med.), Philadelphia Art Alliance, 1936 (prize), Art Institute of Chicago, 1940, Cape Artists Association, 1945 (prize), State Museum Trenton, NJ, SC Herron Art Institute, Woodmere Art Association, Lawrence College, Harcum College, State Museum, Harrisburg, PA, Philadelphia Museum of Art, 1940-, National Academy of Design Watercolor Shows, Audubon Artists & Art Institute Chicago (1940-49).


Awards include gold medal, Philadelphia College Art Alumni Association, 1954, Philadelphia Watercolor Club, 1955.
