C.H. Hulburd

Elgin Watch Co. 12 size 19 jewel open face pendant-set C.H. Hulburd pocket watch.  An attractive example of this scarce top grade dress watch in an 18K gold case with an unusual engraved stepped bow giving the piece a distinctive Art Deco style.  Case also has a Greek key pattern engraved to its band and has initials engraved to its rear.  The C.H. Hulburd was Elgin's flagship product of the 1920s and 1930s and was named after Elgin Watch Co. president Charles H. Hulburd.  Movement is a bridge model with wheel satin plate finish and has gold jewel settings, gold balance screws, and a gold center wheel.  Dial is silver with stylish raised gold Arabic numerals.  Movement serial number is 28844073.

Running and a very nice looking movement with excellent color and luster and some typical mild surface marks.  Movement markings have lost their black color and would benefit from this being replaced.  Dial has some mild light surface spotting throughout which has a fairly uniform and consistent appearance creating a somewhat appealing almost "textured" effect.  Dial has a surface scratch below its seconds-register above the 28 minute position and dial has some small bits of printing loss to its seconds-register markings.  Case is very attractive showing some typical light wear.  Good glass crystal.
