This is a visually striking and Fine Antique Old Early California Desert Landscape Oil Painting on Artist Board, by early 20th century California Impressionist painter, Paul Leishman (b. 1913.) There is very little information available on this immensely talented plein air painter, but perhaps you know more about him or his work? This artwork depicts a jewel-toned California desert landscape scene, with a clear turquoise sky above, and delicately rendered mountain peaks and sand dunes below. In the foreground, two tall palm trees, and an old Spanish Colonial style terracotta water well are visible. Signed: "P. Leishman" in the lower right corner. This artwork likely dates to the 1930's. Approximately 13 3/4 x 17 3/4 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 12 x 16 inches. Very good condition for nearly a century of age, with some light speckles of soiling at the edges of the painted surface, and mild scuffing and edge wear to the original period gilded wood frame (please see photos.) Acquired from an old estate collection in Palm Springs, California, which included two other paintings by Leishman that will also be listed soon. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer. Please check out my other listings for more wonderful and unique artworks!
