Antique English Late Victorian Burr Walnut Stationary Box
This is an antique English scribe's desk, also called a stationary Box. It Is made of mahogany with solid mahogany dividers. As the photos show, it has two doors which act as closures for the lid on top and the drawer below. It has brass hinges and latches which all work, the lock has working key, catch to the draw is missing.
Fitted with two glass inkwells with brass tops, the rim edges on tops match the brass knob in the stationary box, couple of chips to the base on one of the inkwells, the brass tops have some corrosion marks.
When the tops doors are closed and locked with the key they can be opened from the top, the key cannot be removed until the doors are locked.
Measures 38cm wide, 21cm depth, and 28cm high.
