Due to signature "Bouvier.1823." this miniature was previously thought to be a work of well-known Swiss miniaturist Pierre-Louis Bouvier (1765-1836).

Published in issue No. 75 (Janv.-Febr. 2024) of the "La Lettre de la Miniature" article by art historians H.-N. Canival, B. Pappe and S. Remensberger (see our images nr.10-13) let us believe we are dealing here with a work of another Bouvier - previously unknown for collectors of portrait miniatures artist from Nantes Jean Marie Michel Bouvier (1783 Chateaubourg - 1852 Nantes).
