Georgian Panel Bracelet 147cm

A superb antique bracelet dating from the early 19th Century and comprising 10 linked panels of glass imitation hardstones, cut in slender, elongated octagonal form, with bezel edges and set into gilt metal mounts, each mount decorated with 3 small balls to the top and to the bottom and all panels being joined together with 2 links set to the mid side of each panel.  The clasp makes the 11th panel, being of the same design as the panels while incorporating the box and tongue closure.  The effect is of one seamless row, with the clasp near invisible.  Each panel is different, with a fabulous range of pattern and colour.  Some are made to imitate agate, jasper and marble, others are clearly replicating chalcedony, onyx and lapis, while some have a cut back technique, similar to intaglio and cameo hardstones.

This beautiful bracelet is around 200 years old and is in pretty fabulous shape for its age. The closure still works well, closing with a secure click. All of the links are original, and there are no signs of repairs or the hated lead solder. There are a couple of chips to the back of three of the panels and some small signs of wear to the front of a couple of the panels, but considering the age of the piece, there is nothing of any significance and nothing detracts from the bright beauty of the piece.  Please examine the pictures and video provided, which show it in clear detail.  This is a very well made piece, with the panels being closely set into a very fine, grained bezel and then each set snugly into their slightly roseate gilt mounts.  This bracelet is quite possibly a Continental piece, perhaps a souvenir from the Grand Tour, it certainly has a flair to the design that corresponds to similar items from Europe at that time.  A fine and unusual survivor in great original condition which would adorn any wrist or collection today.
