This is a beautiful Italian black lacquered and gold finished

red pottery candy dish or lidded compote with a Roman wedding scene all the way around the bowl. The inside of the bowl and lid are black lacquered as is the ring and top of the finial. The red pottery shows on the rim on the underside of the base and inner rim of the lid.  The overall gold finish makes it hard to take a good photo and this is much more attractive than shown. It measures 10" tall to the top of the finial on the lid, 5" to the rim and 5 3/4" across and is in very good clean condition with just one small scratch on the gold of the lid, little to no wear otherwise.
