Signed baseball, Allie Reynolds, ex. Joe L. Brown collection

 

Characteristics: Baseball autographed by Allie Reynolds, with handwritten note “NO-HIT, NO-RUN GAMES, JULY 12, 1951-SEPT.28, 1951” (penned by Joe L. Brown). Comes with PSA/DNA card-size CoA and glued sticker, no. X51844 – Allie Reynolds (1917-1994) was an American Major League Baseball pitcher. He pitched 13 years for the Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees. Reynolds was nicknamed “Superchief” because of his Muscogee heritage.

 

Provenance: Formerly from the famous Joe L. Brown collection. Joe LeRoy Brown (1918–2010) was the general manager of the World Series champion Pittsburgh Pirates between 1955 and 1976 and ranks as the 19th best general manager in baseball history. Son of one of the first and greatest sport memorabilia collectors Joe. E. Brown, and being part of the baseball professional circuit, Joe L. Brown managed to amass a large collection of autographed baseballs. More than 200 baseballs from the Joe. L. Brown collection have been sold at auction in 2015 (e.g. Lelands, 2015a; 2015b; Huggins & Scott Auctions, 2015). They are recognisable by the date of game and other notes being inscribed by Joe (capitalised form, blue ink). The pedigree ‘Joe L.
