This is a Cameo of Athena. Pallas Athena of WACS, was the official insignia of the U.S. Women's Army Corps. it was in existence 1942 to 1978 when women were integrated with male units. She is a female warrior of Greek Mythology wearing her father, Zeus's, Helmet. She is just breath-taking & very admirable heroine.
The cameo is beautiful, colorful, very detailed helmet with Plumes ,& ornate etching is in excellent condition. The Master Carver chose his shell carefully. 75 + years ago He carved a very curvaceous Carnelian Shell with extreme detail including curly hair, & pearls. How awesome is that? This is an exceptionally large & unusual cameo, OOAK, one of a kind. My new favorite.
This is originally just a brooch. I have added a 24" GP, unmarked necklace at no charge, & a Gold Plated Pendant converter that makes a brooch into a pendant ( with little plastic stoppers on clasp spindle to stop it from sliding.) This converter can be removed & used on other horizontal clasp brooches to make them into a pendant. This brooch is marked 14K on top back. It has an exceptional C clasp. After you clasp it you pull up hinged safety loop safety clasp. See final picture.
It measures 2 3/8" x 1 3/4". Original Double ring twisted silver tone 18" Neck chain is included.  

   And when not being worn it make a great wall hanging statement.
