SUMMARY:  
A mint and very rare condition solid silver pocket watch by the Royal Watch Maker, and keeping good time. This is a beautifully made English key-wound mans substantial pocket watch, dating from ca. 1884, from the late Victorian period.

The watch just cleaned and overhauled by my watch-maker and keeping very good time for a 140 year old English pocket watch and comes with a two year mechanical warranty.

THE DIAL: 100% mint, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and in bright condition with no chips or hairlines. The dial with blue steel  spade hands and a blue steel sub seconds hand. Diameter is 44 mm. The crystal is also in excellent condition.  the dial fully signed by J W Benson of Ludgate Hill, London.

THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with finely gilded three-quarter plate and blued steel screws. A cut two arm  balance, with hairspring and a  single-roller lever escapement, with a lever. The movement of good quality and ticking away on my desk as I type this,. The watch signed, "J W Benson of 62 & 64, Ludgate Hill, London" and also "To H.R.H. The Prince of Wales" and number 6810. The watch is key-wound and comes with a winding key.

The watch is key-wound, and set through the back and comes with a key. The movement overhaul in superb order showing little wear and excellent gilding to the plates and dust cover. The watch runs for ca. 30 hours and comes with a winding key, with the movement wound through the back cover and also the hands set, with dust cover. The watch is much brighter and  crisp than in these dark photos, which are limited by my camera and lighting equipment.  The watch is in very good working order for its age.

THE CASE: 100% mint, the solid silver substantial consular case measures 47 mm. The front and rear covers are excellent, both are hinged and close nice and tightly.  The inner solid silver cuvette in excellent condition. The case with silver hall marks from London and case maker mark of "JWB" for Benson . The top and rear covers in good order.  The watch comes with a solid silver Albert watch chain, watch key and a Home Dsitrict Football Competition silver fob awarded to H.S. Parrow of Richmond.
