A very large and extremely heavy black slate mantel clock made by Ansonia in New York, United States of America.

Brass lions heads on sides (one with a hinged 'handle').

Ornate brass feet on front corners.

Embossed brass bezel and centre of dial.

White enamel dial ( hairline crack just below number 9 - see photos).

Black Roman numerals and hands.

Dial marked at bottom with:  Manufactured by The Ansonia Clock Co, New York, United States of America.

No glass door over dial (but hinge still in place).

Engraved decorative panels of flowers and foliage on front of case, with gold coloured infill.

Circular hole in reverse with 'tin lid' type hinged door (no catch).

Brass wind up mechanism inside with brass pendulum and weight.  Movement marked:  ANSONIA CLOCK CO., U.S.A., NEW YORK.

Chime hammer strikes on a coiled spring.

Approximate size:  15.5" wide x 7" deep x 10.75" high.
