The only things left of original purse are Chrome & Brass frame with repousse roses, chain, & original calf skin lining (still inside). When I got this purse the front beading of purse was disintegrating. I left old calf skin body in added new front & back interior black linen lining.
Then I beaded the front in a circular pattern again on new strong material.
These antique beads are handmade (early 1900), black jet glass that have been dipped in silver. Very irregular shape, no two are alike, but very glinty & shiny. Some have remained black, some are solid silver, others are speckled, some molted. Looks like a million little lights. Purse has more than 2000 Beads. As they are double & triple sewed for security, this took me 32 1/2 hours. I added large antique faceted black jet cabochon (with loops on back) and antique brass repousse GIBSON GIRL cameo with patina.
Considering its age it is in great condition. I reinforced the top cabochon & tassels. This is not new it is not mint.
