About Us
Excellent condition should never be considered "new" when referring to pre-owned items that could be decades old.
Pottery & China: Most vintage, antique pottery and/or china will never look like it just came out of the box. Crazing (lines) in the glaze of pottery are, to greater or lesser degree, are very common and go hand in hand with the age of an item or the manufacturer itself. Many times a small grain of sand or other debris adheres to the piece, goes through the whole firing and glazing process and has been there since the day it item was produced. Some items are stamped differently on the back even though the pattern on the front is essentially the same. We show the back stamps being offered so the purchaser has an opportunity to purchase items made by the same factory using, presumably, the same colors and manufacturing process as the items they already own.
Silverplate Flatware: Much of the silverplate flatware sold consists of pieces as young as 20 years and as old as turn of the century. Fine lines and scratches are very common unless one is very fortunate to encounter a set that has never been used and has been stored in such a manner as to prohibit the pieces from rubbing together in any manner. All flatware will show visible signs of wear in one form or another. We endeavor to bring to the market the least worn examples of every item we sell.
Our clients are well versed in the meaning of vintage and antique and we know the number of photographs will allow for an informed choice.
If there is ever a question about any particular item, please do not hesitate to contact us.
