An early 1930s Art Deco hand thrown stoneware collection from the Danish pottery of artist Lauritz Hjorth. Since 1859 generations of the Hjorth family have made pottery on the island of Bornholm, Denmark. By 1880 their pottery was available in the big department stores of Paris, London and Berlin as well as in the US and Australia. From the beginning family artists, including many women, created their pottery.

This rare early 1930s group includes a bowl with Greek style Art Deco motifs (model no. 32), two rounded vases one with a beautifully coloured Asian influenced bird and foliage design, the other with an Art Deco fruit and foliage design (both model nos. 184), and a similar fruit and foliage pattern on the flared rim vase (model no. 183).

Bowl: 16.5cm diam. x 5cm deep.
Rounded Vases: 13.5cm tall x 10cm. diam.
Flared Top Vase: 14cm tall x 12cm. diam.

All in excellent vintage condition being durable stoneware, with no chips, cracks or repairs. Very few signs of use. Collectable, unusual hand thrown Danish Art Nouveau art pottery.
