Rare title. The book is 50 years old (published in 1973 by Panther Paperback Books) and has obvious handling, storage and reading wear, but it’s not grubby. The cover has creasing.

There is also a water stain on the bottom fore- edge of the end papers up to the contents. After that the pages (although lightly tanned) are clean and clear. The water stain appears again in the same place at the back of the book’s pages. The majority of the book’s pages are not affected. They are tight to the spine and intact.

Ed Sanders researched and wrote this immediately after the Sharon Tate and Labianca murders. It is a straightforward, detailed, chronologically-arranged account of how Charles Manson formed and controlled his cult of hippie killers.

The book is based on hundreds of interviews and first-hand research and contains numerous details of the gruesome murders not explored in the far less insightful Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi.

Sanders book explores the connections between the Manson family and other cult groups. A grotesque and chilling true crime classic.
